Sally Smith was born in the small town of Ripon, North Yorkshire in 1974 and moved to RSA in her early years where she grew up on a farm in the KZN midlands. Sally was a great sport achiever in her teen years and travelled extensively as a result of this. Her 20's were years of great exploration where she took to the skies, achieving her commercial pilot licence, and combined this with a handful of extreme sports which took her deep into remote areas where she was overwhelmed by the beauty of nature. Sally opened a Responsible Tourism accommodation establishment in the remote Lesotho highlands in her 30's, organised and hosted adventure camps in Nature Reserves across KZN, and started her own successful Garden Design & Landscaping business, all of which keep her busy to this day. Sally's work follows a theme of decorative automation using an organic process that reveals objects in an illusionistic way. She attempts to merge botanical patterns and subconscious images from her environment both past and present.
