John de Jager

John grew up spending time in reserves across South Africa and Namibia, where a wholesome interest for wildlife, and nature conservation germinated. His passion and commitment led him to qualify as a field guide in 2006, and since he has been sought after and employed at numerous game reserves across South Africa. He has worked at reserves in the Sabi Sands, the Eastern Cape and the Western Cape before and is a qualified lead trails guide. It was by chance that at the first game reserve he worked at, he stumbled onto a Pentax K1000 film camera, but after snapping a few moments to share with friends and family back home, he knew there was no way back. Curiosity soon became an obsession and since then John has consistently produced some truly amazing wildlife images. John combines new fresh angles to photography with the classic, iconic image styles of the photographic world. He has received numerous certificates of merit awards as well as being published, most recently in Africa Geographic. John makes full use of his animal behavior knowledge to anticipate that perfect moment. Combining that with the perfect camera set up allows him to capture the moment
