Lightning and landscapes

Lightning and landscapes

A collection of lightning shots taken during the latter half of 2013 in and around the suburbs of Johannesburg.

The summer of 2013 saw some of the most incredible and severe thunderstorms on the Witwatersrand. I live in an area where there is a substantial amount of lightning activity and was fortunate enough to not only witness this incredible phenomenon but also to capture it with my camera. Lightning is incredible, but one can never capture a proper electric storm in a single photograph. That's when my mind started mulling over the idea of recording multiple strikes and came across software that allows one to stack and thus be able to present the viewer with an experience instead of just a photograph.
